European Conference on Cross-Border Mediation

The International Mediation Alliance (IMA) hosted an international conference, taking place on October 20th -21st, 2011, in Florence/Italy.

Goal of the conference was to enhance the development of cross-border mediation and to expand its consistent use across Europe to solve conflicts faster, more effective and more cost-efficient than at conventional judicial proceedings.

Great speakers signed up for this event. William Ury, the co-founder of Harvard’s Program on Negotiation and famous author of the mediation bestseller “Getting to YES” (German: Das Harvard-Konzept), delivered the closing speech and an additional training session. Many more exciting experts on mediation from all over Europe followed the call for papers proposing original contributions for the plenary presentations and a series of workshops.  Objects of those workshops have been legal and intercultural issues, cross-border mediation, co-mediation and online-mediation.
